Directors of Whangarei Harmony Chorus

The Whangarei Harmony Chorus has two accomplished Musical Directors who share vocal production sessions and directing repertoire.

Both Directors are Sweet Adelines certified and attend educational programmes on a regular basis.

Director: Pamela Black

Pamela grew up in Brisbane where she did her nursing training. She met and married a Kiwi (Hugh) and moved to New Zealand.

Music and theatre have always been a large part of Pamela's life. She is currently one of Whangarei Theatre Company's bank of directors.

Pamela had a taste of Sweet Adelines in the U.S.A. where she and her family lived for a short time.

Pamela joined N.Z. Sweet Adelines in 1991 and is still loving it. Pamela had a spell as Director of the Chorus, but decided she would prefer to sing, so back on the risers for her.

Pamela says "I find singing is so good for one's physical and mental well being, besides which I have made some wonderful friends in and around the organisation."

Director: Kim Cairns

Kim studied clarinet, guitar and cello while at High school and then classical Singing at Christchurch Teacher's College gaining Diplomas in Singing Performance with LTCL and LRSM Music Schools.

Kim taught singing to high school students before joining Sweet Adelines in 1992.
