Farewell to Christien
14/6/2010

We were very sorry to say goodbye to our Director Christien Oberholster.

Christien has done a wonderful job of leading the Chorus for the past seven years but now job commitments require that Christien travel outside Whangarei. We will miss you Christien!

The evening was enhanced by the surprise arrival of a number of "oldies" who helped pack the risers and pay their respects to Christien. And what a great sound they made!. Click here for photos of the evening.

Thank you for the pics Lorraine and Vonnie.

Nuptials and Couples - post competition party
1/4/2010

Wow - what a weekend at the National Competitions in Wellington! We achieved our best score for 10 years - 525 points - and gained 2nd place in the Small Chorus category. Quartets too, displayed a very high standard. Sweet Adelines NZ is in very good voice. Full results of this national competition can be seen at www.sweetadelines.co.nz.

Time to party! and the nuptials theme of the post-competition party was rather liberally interpreted - as shown in these photos by Vonnie.

Dress Rehearsal Forum North
25/4/2010

The countdown to competition has begun! Eeek!

We presented our competition package to family, friends and public at the Forum North Theatre on Anzac Day. We joined forces with Bella Accappela from Bay of Islands. This was our chance to practise applying makeup and costumes and to get those butterflies flying in formation. Ably compered by Elizabeth Lee, we received glowing feedback about our performance. Thanks for the photos Lorraine.

Ngaruawahia Retreat Weekend with Waikato Rivertones
12/2/2010

Waikato Rivertones under the directorship of Master Director Barbara Smith invited Whangarei Harmony Chorus to spend a weekend singing with them as well as South City Soundz and Tarankai Harmony choruses. A wonderful opportunity to sing with a world-class Chorus with coaches Barbara, Virginia Humphrey-Taylor and Julie Christie. Click here to see the photos taken at the Sat night social function. Flying was the theme - but what variety in the interpretation! Photos by Vonny.
